Midwife's Experience

I took care of a woman who was terrified of needles. Usually in cases like this, I try to calm her down and say that I'll use a thin needle used with children, but this time I told her that I understand she is afraid, and asked: "what are you afraid of?" and kept quiet. After few moments she told me that this was her 10th pregnancy, but she gave birth only twice. During the entire pregnancy she was daily injecting herself with Clexan and she couldn’t' take anymore stabbing…. A few minutes later I managed to insert the IV while she was calm and not scared anymore.
