Transition to Unplanned C-Section

[after the program]

“Many times when I needed to move a woman, who wanted to have a natural childbirth, into the OR for a c-section, I felt like a failure... I would either not say anything, just handle the technical stuff, the signature, taking off any jewelry... or I would try to cheer her up and say things like: "the most important thing is for you and your baby is to be healthy," or "you got a great surgeon! you're in great hands" Now, after the program, I get that ignoring the disappointment and the sense of failure only enhances them. I learned to say in these kind of situations things like: "I know you really didn’t want to give birth this way..." and "I'm right here with you.”
